Meet Tom
Tom Sidney, born in the Renfrew Victoria Hospital in 1974. Tom is the son of Susan Sidney and the grandson of the late Mick and Sylvia Sidney. Tom is happily married to Shelly (English), a devoted step-dad to Kyle (Candice) Jacob and Sarah (Devon). and an ecstatic, loving Poppi to their 3 year old granddaughter Elaina. Tom and his wife Shelly own and operate Maple Ridge Inn. Tom's drive is to make Renfrew the Town to be proud of because of his young family and your family, for everyone's future.
Tom was born into a community minded, philanthropic, business family (former Sidney's Discount and Best Regards). Tom learned early on the importance of community and giving back. One of the youngest people in Renfrew to be nominated for Citizen of the Year at the age of 23 and selected into the Leadership Ottawa program for the top up and coming leaders at the age of 29.
Tom had a very successful career for almost 25 years as a leader in the mental health and human behaviour field. Tom has received recognition nationally, provincially and locally for his work with homeless teens, a crisis interventionist, a suicide prevention specialist and as a motivator for positive change. These skills and experiences are what Tom utilized during the last 8 years as your Councillor.
